How a fare is paid

Four things happen between the door opening and the money landing.

    The card is presented

    On the terminal in the vehicle, before the passenger gets out.

    It is authorised

    Sent over mobile internet. The card issuer's answer comes back to the screen.

    The docket prints

    On the spot. Any transaction from the shift can be reprinted later.

    It settles and is recorded

    Through the account. The live statement updates.
